VERY FINE AND EXTRAORDINARILY RARE. ONE OF ONLY TWO COVERS WITH THE -1/4 REAL RECORDED BY GOODMAN.

A surprisingly small number of covers have survived from the Liberty Head Issue of 1875. According to Goodman, only about 20-30 in total are believed to exist (Image)

J9, J16), each tied by "Genova 3 Dec. 75" circular datestamp, Panama Transit and due markings, London transit and Genova arrival backstamps, Italy stamps with some faults of no significance

VERY FINE. A PHENOMENAL GUATEMALA POSTAL HISTORY RARITY. THIS IS THE EARLIEST KNOWN USAGE OF THIS ISSUE. ONE OF ONLY TEN COVERS KNOWN WITH THE 2-REALES AND ARGUABLY THE FINEST FROM THE 1875 ISSUE.

6386   GUATEMALA, Balance of the 1875 Liberty Head Collection. Neatly mounted on quadrille pages, with multiple unused (no gum as they are typically found) singles and blocks incl. -1/4 block of ten with partial top inscription, multiple used singles incl. 2r block of six, some double vertical perf varieties incl. 2r bottom margin inscription pair and strip of three, and set of forgeries in sheets of 25 with "AG 78" cancels, also incl. a 1877 1r bisect tied on cover which is listed in Goodman as genuine but is now thought to be a forgery, overall Fine-Very Fine
