The Imperial Women's Patriotic Society, the charitable organization for whom these issues were prepared, asked for and received 1000 imperforate sets of each issue from the State Printing Office. The Society, in turn, arranged to sell their entire supply of imperfs to a Petrograd stamp dealer by the name of A. Eichenthal. Mr. Eichenthal, who appaerently had a "friend" in the Post Office, arranged to have several of the 1915 sets canceled at the Petrograd Post & Telegraph Office No. 33 on September 6, 1915. He then did the same thing with the 1916 white paper set on 6 September 1916. (Image) (Image2)
