Jan 1858, a very early date; while the second digit of the day is not completely struck up, the letter is written on 8 Jan and is docketed as received (in German) 12 Jan and answered on 15 Jan, so the date of the postmark is likely 10 or 11 Jan; slight oily stain on reverse, otherwise Very Fine and very rare. only a very small number of earlier covers are known.
