Due to strong winds, the Ville d'Orleans flew quickly north and nearly crashed into the North Sea during the night; in order to gain altitude, the pilot had to jettison one bag of mai in addition to the regular ballast. The jettisoned mail bag was picked up by a Norwegian fishing boat and turned over to the French Consul in Mandal, Norway. All of the stamps on this mail were washed off. (Image) 		Scott $1,550
