1003 Scott No. 1b imageGreat Britain, 1840, 1d gray black (Scott 1b), plate 11, position J-C, a choice example with large margins all around, used with lightly struck black Maltese Cross cancel on an 1841 (May 26) letter (with contents), used locally in Canterbury, Very Fine, quite handsome, with 1907 R.P.S. certificate. Cataloged as used sginle off cover. Plate 11 is the rarest of the Penny Black plates.
