complete Adelaide 'G.P.O/JA*6/1851/ SOUTH AUSTRALIA' crowned oval in blue all on the face, fair 'GEELONG/JA*17/1851/PORT PHILLIP' crowned oval arrival in black on the reverse, repaired faults & large-part back flap missing. Carried by 'Aztec'

circle-in-bars cancel, 'PAID/=ADELAIDE-S.A.=' cds in blue, 'BEITH/DE9/1859' arrival backstamps, ironed-out vertical & horizontal creases well clear of the stamp. A very rare franking. Ex Wise (1943), Bernhard Forster, Barton Sparrow and Michael
Blake: sold at our auction of 7.2.2014 for $2210 (Sale 188 Lot 1115). RPSV Certificate (2014) states "it is genuine, correctly rated and the stamp belongs". The rate was 6d shipletter + French transit fee of 6d for ¼oz-½oz. Harry Lower's very fine
