1892 c image1859 (Oct 18) envelope to "Berth/Ayershire" [sic] "via Marseilles" with First Roulettes 1/- orange SG 18 tied by bold circle-in-bars cancel, 'PAID/=ADELAIDE-S.A.=' cds in blue, 'BEITH/DE9/1859' arrival backstamps, ironed-out vertical & horizontal creases well clear of the stamp. A very rare franking. Ex Wise (1943), Bernhard Forster, Barton Sparrow and Michael Blake: sold at our auction of 7.2.2014 for $2210 (Sale 188 Lot 1115). RPSV Certificate (2014) states "it is genuine, correctly rated and the stamp belongs". The rate was 6d shipletter + French transit fee of 6d for ¼oz-½oz.
