REGISTRATION ENVELOPES: 1912 Melbourne Printing KEVII 3d red on off-white stock with the Flap Folded to the Back plus Reset Text &
Smaller-Boxed 'REGISTERED', some localised toning, unused. Unrecorded by Higgins & Gage. Only a couple of unused and two used examples plus four CTO are known, making this one of the most elusive of all Commonwealth-period States issues.
On 19.12.1912, only 13 days before the first of the Kangaroo & Map stamps were issued, JB Cooke, the Victorian Government Stamp Printer, released a mere 3900 of these envelopes, of which some 3100 were destroyed before February 1914. It is likely
that examples were CTO'd in anticipation of the looming destruction order. (Image1)

POSTAL CARDS: 1898 QV 1d Scenic Issue HG 10 complete printer's galley-proof sheet for the eighteen cards from Series B (all with
rounded rectangular vignettes) arranged in 3x6 format printed in black-brown on surfaced paper (not card) measuring 440x565mm, several horizontal or vertical folds through ten units leaving eight units in fine to very fine condition, some minor
soiling and a couple of small repaired peripheral tears. An extraordinary and unique artefact that, despites the folds, presents remarkably well. Ex Ron Butler and Bernie Beston.
Technically, for the following reasons, this is a tremendously significant item: 1) it is the only multi-image scenic postal card proof from Australia that is known to us; 2) it proves the bizarre layout of 17 different views, with 'Parliament
House...' appearing twice, in positions R2/3 & R3/3; and 3) the stamp indicia appear to be from all-different electros. Alan Griffiths, in 'The Postal Stationery of Queensland' illustrates the sheet - minus the fourth row! - at page 30, and lists the
views at page 28. Across many years, we have sold several Queensland scenic postal card proofs, in the range of $2500 to $4000 each. All of them have been printed on card-stock. This is a completely different genus of proof. (Image1)
