1695 c image1915 stampless POW envelope from a German Officer to the Red Cross in Switzerland, scarce combination of markings with 'PRISONER OF WAR LETTER/ FREE ' and 'CENSORED/...MAJOR/GERMAN CONCENTRATION CAMP/LIVERPOOL NSW' cachets both in green, the latter signed "DO Griffiths Capt" (recorded -.4.1915 to -.05.1915 only), partial Liverpool cds of '24AP15', the reverse with superb '71' in rosine & endorsed "Civil" in blue pencil that may not have been applied in Australia, apparently sent with the flap tucked-in. 1696 PSE image1916 (March 14) usage of KGV Lettercard 1d ('CITY COURT/MELBOURNE' view), to Denmark with lengthy social message from student about to sit his University of Sydney entrance exams with KGV ½d green & 1d red tied by 'BATHURST/NSW' cds, unusually routed via France where censored with 'CONTROLE POSTAL MILITAIRE' resealing labels affixed on three sides tied by 'OUVERT/15/...' oval cachets, minor transmission marks & small-part censor label removed on opening. 1700 oversize cover image1927 The English Scottish & Australian Bank Limited 'PASS BOOK ONLY' large envelope with inspection slits at sides, to York Plains with KGV Heads 2d brown Die I Single Watermark solo franking (ACSC Cat $400) tied by 'OATLANDS/TAS' cds, minor edge faults & a light fold clear of the stamp & markings, a few marks on the reverse. The rate was double 1d per 2oz Commercial Papers. A scarce stamp on cover: by the time they were issued, the letter rate had decreased to 1½d per 1oz; when it increased to 2d in 1930 these were quickly replaced by the 2d red Die III.
