BLACK OVERPRINT: 'C.D.' on QV De La Rue Large Star Wmk Perf 11½-12½ 2d dull orange SG DO101a with an Extra Vertical Line of
Rouletting, slightly trimmed perfs at left, light '6'-in-circle cancel of Redruth (site of the only jail outside Adelaide), unpriced unused or used by Gibbons. Ex Brown, Colonel Harry Napier (III) and Don Pearce: sold for $1375 (Sale 247 Lot 175).
RPSL Certificate (1965) incorrectly states "perf 11-12½ and roulette".
An enigma: Ron Butler lists 'Perf 12 [sic] x Rouletted' - probably based on the certificate - rated RRRRR. However, such a stamp has not been recorded. This stamp is perforated on all sides. As such it is unlisted, and the only recorded example, so
it should be rated RRRRRR. Don Pearce concluded that it is a mis-rouletted stamp with perforations added to correct the misplacement.
