This rare pamphlet is one of several promotions describing-- as of different dates-- the status of the transcontinental railroad's construction, and the Union Pacific's progress. The Map and accompanying text detail the responsibilities of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads in completing the transcontinental railroad, with branches into Washington and Montana. The pamphlet details the agricultural and mineral resources of the land which the Road will open to settlement; the resources available to the Union Pacific [including government funding], the financial status of the Road, and the availability of mortgage bonds [which the rear wrapper also advertises].
