THE FINEST OF ONLY TWO RECORDED ON COVER BISECT USAGES OF THE 1869 50C HIDALGO THIN FIGURE PERFORATED ISSUE.

Bisects are very unusual in the 1868 issue as they were deemed illegal during this period and should have no longer been tolerated by the postal authorities.

Cons 28-70, imperf, complete sheet of 100, full sheet margins, manuscript diagonal pen markings forming an "X" on each stamp as well as the manuscript. name "Lopez" across the sheet, 20 strikes of the Tonala Administration mark (Schatzkes 131) and 4 strikes of the two-line "Franco en Tonala" (Schatzkes #130) in the corners used as registration marks, minimal light file folds quarter the sheet, couple small internal holes, Very Fine appearance, one of the jewels of the 1868 issue, sold for $3,100 in 2010, ex-D. Stout.
