Bottom left portion of stamp in combination with 1865, 1r yellow on folded letter sheet to Lima, Peru, tied by "Guayaquil, 8 Dic, 68" cds's with clear receiving postmark on reverse, the 1½r franking underpays the 2r single external rate up to ¼ oz. and apparently was accepted or overlooked by the postal clerk who dispatched the cover, Very Fine.

Positions 24/33/42 (middle stamp broken frameline at right variety) and 51/60/69/78, margins large to just in, canceled by "Latacunga" provisional box cancels on oversized Judicial wrapper to Riobamba, red crayon "14 oz" weight notation, Very Fine and choice, this Latacunga pre-adhesive postmark was used during the first half of 1865, fewer than ten recorded usages of this provisional handstamp used as a cancelling device.
