2631       imageByrd Antarctic Expedition II Collection, 1935. Box including a fantastic showpiece J.T. Dye Handpainted Cachet cover signed by both Byrd & La Gorce, Gimbal's cachet cover with Little America Second cancellation cachet and signed "R.E. Byrd", large group of second cancellation mail of over 200 pieces (Early in 1935 Charles Anderson was sent to Little America to cancel all backed up mail, which all are dated 1/30/35 and bear official "Penguin" black cachets) including cancellation varieties and different frankings incl. complete Byrd sheets, 7"x9" signed photo showing Byrd in full Admiral's uniform, complete set of 17 different real photo post cards with all signed by "Bear" Captain R. English and bearing Byrd stamps tied by Los Angeles postmarks, photo postcards showing both ships and Byrd with "Ruppert, BAE" postmarks and Byrd stamps, one signed by English, two books: "Snowland Folk" and "Children of the Arctic" by Peary, later signed, comes with several 1960s letters from Peary's daughter, etc., F.-V.F., a wonderful collection, ex-Skowron.
