AN EXCEPTIONAL DEPRECIATED CURRENCY COVER CARRIED BY THE GALWAY LINE.

The Galway Line only operated from 1858 to 1864. Departures were from Galway, Ireland prior to August 1863, when the Line was reorganized and began sailing from Liverpool and calling at Galway. This cover was carried on the second of only 11 voyages originating in Liverpool; the letter had missed the Sep. 1 departure from Liverpool so was picked up on the way westward.
