LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
461 ()    136 image1870, 3¢ green, H. grill, N.B.N.C. printing. O.g., very lightly hinged (which appears n.h.), regummed, wonderful centering with large margins, bright Post Office fresh color with nice grill impression, Extremely Fine and choice, with 1995, 2006 P.F. & 2024 P.S.E. certificates.
Scott No. 136; $575.

AN OUTSTANDING MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 3¢ BANK NOTE GRILL IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION.

The P.S.E. cert calls this "regummed", however we disagree. The two P.F. certs call this "previously hinged" which is v.l.h.

466     139 image1870, 10¢ brown, H. grill, N.B.N.C. printing. O.g., very lightly hinged, nice centering, intense rich color; natural fiber inclusion (visible on reverse only), F.-V.F., with 1976, 2006 P.F. & 1996, 2006 P.S.E. certificates, last Graded (F 70).
Scott No. 139; $7,500.

A LOVELY AND RARE MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 10¢ H. GRILL BANK NOTE WITH ONLY ONE EXAMPLE GRADED HIGHER.

The numeric graded does not do this stamp justice, the last time this stamp was sold at auction, it was described as, "Extremely Fine Example of the 10-Cent 1870 National Grilled Issue with Original Gum and Unusually Choice Centering." (Siegel Sale #829, Lot 368). It is interesting to note that only two original gum examples have been graded by the P.S.E., this stamp and one other (85 J).

478 ()    151 image1870, 12¢ dull violet, N.B.N.C. printing. Regummed, beautifully centered amid four large margins, bright paper and Post Office freshness, pretty pastel color and detailed impression, an Extremely Fine gem, with 1994, 2007 P.F. & 2024 P.S.E. certificates.
Scott No. 151; $2,850 for o.g.

AN GEM EXAMPLE IN EVERY RESPECT FEATURING CENTERING, MARGINS, COLOR AND IMPRESSION.

The P.S.E. has called this regummed, however we disagree and feel this is original gum. The stamp was offered in the 1994 Siegel Rarities Sale of the Concord Collection and described as large part original gum. It is accompanied by two P.F. certificates which state, "original gum, previously hinged".
