A fine used vertical pair, neatly cancelled by central '6 AU 07' circular date stamp. Upper stamp with faint bend, which does not detract.

A scarce multiple.

748 O imageAustralia New South Wales 1907 (July) Watermark w11 set of 10 to 2s6d, SG353/63.

A good to fine used set, specifically attractive because of neat cancels. There are a few short perforations, which are fairly inconsequential as the quality is still far above average.

A difficult set to assemble, with only 6,240 issued of 8d and 10d values.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £485.

A brilliant quality mint example with original gum and lovely fresh colour.

The 10d value was not issued in this colour without surcharge.

A very fine and rare Queen Victorian surcharge error.

1015 ** imageAustralia British Commonwealth Occupation Force 1946-48 1s grey-green, horizontal pair from upper right corner of sheet, showing variety Narrow 'N' on right stamp, J5c.

A fine mint pair with original gum, (both stamps unmounted). R1/8, right pane.

These stamps were used by the Australian forces occupying Japan after the Second World War. Initially their post offices supplied unoverprinted Australian stamps, but it was decided to introduce the overprinted issue to prevent currency speculation.

Very scarce and attractive.

A fresh mint example of this rare error with large part original gum, (a little disturbed by hinge removal).

These stamps were used by the Australian forces occupying Japan after the Second World War. Initially their post offices supplied unoverprinted Australian stamps, but it was decided to introduce the overprinted issue to prevent currency speculation.

Accompanied with a clear King George VI Expertising certificate (2003).

1018 imageAustralia Postage Due 1922-30 2d carmine and yellow-green, watermark w6, Ash printing, error imperforate between stamp and gutter margin at left, SGD94var.

Lovely fresh stamp with original gum. Couple of shortish perforations and trivial specks on gum mentioned for accuracy, but a fine and spectacular rarity.

Additionally shows prominent constant frame plate flaw 'lower left corner broken', confirming position as right pane R6/1.

Only 30 originally existed, from three sheets with the first vertical row of perforations on the right pane omitted, but some of these have since been trimmed at left. One of only three possible with the additional flaw!

Australia Specialised Catalogue Number: ACSC D108b, with flaw 'k'.

1020 ** imageAustralia 1934 Centenary of Victoria set of 3 to 1s, SG147/9, perforations 10½, in imprint, "JOHN ASH. AUSTRALIAN NOTE AND STAMP PRINTER", in blocks of 4.

Fresh mint quality with original gum, (lower pair in each block unmounted). Small imperfections (usual gutter bends, odd short perforations and wrinkles), still attractive and scarce in this form.

A wonderful set. The 10½ perforated was changed in August 1934 to 11½ due to difficulties experienced in separating the stamps in the first perforation.

Fresh mint example with large part original gum. Some gum creasing and a little close at left, but such flaws are minimal in the context of the rarity of this imperforate pair, which I have never yet seen without some condition issues being present.

The Stanley Gibbons catalogue value is £750.

An attractive positional multiple with very fresh colour and benefiting from three stamps being unmounted mint. The remainder have large part original gum. Creasing and some separation and re-enforcement.

A rare item.

Brilliant quality mint examples with large part original gum.

The Victory stamps were issued in 1946 to celebrate the return to peace at the end of World War II. The designs feature a view of the Thames River in London, with a view of the Parliament buildings in the distance.

These "SPECIMEN" examples were used solely by postal administrations for reference purposes to help spot any attempted forgeries.
