LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
1081   imageAccumulation of Mint Stuck-Down Material, 1920s-1960s, from an estate of someone who bought directly from Canada Post and unfortunately stored the material in a humid area. This consists of all mint blocks, plate blocks, sheets of various issues between the Admirals and the 1960s. The best is a group of Admiral large imperforate blocks partially stuck to each other, the bottom item being a full pane of 100 of the 3c carmine Admiral imperforate, with pyramid guide, lathework and plate number (just over half of this sheet is stuck). We also noted Admiral part-perforate coil blocks, a bunch of 1c yellow Admiral coil strips of 6, 13c blue Yacht, a few Small Queens, several sheets including the 2c New Brunswick, 1c Princess Elizabeth (unchecked for "weeping princess"), a sheet of 100 of the Admiral surcharged 2-line "2 CENTS" over 3c issue, and more. This lot would have a huge catalogue value if never hinged and intact, but needs the delicate and patient touch of someone to restore some or all of the better items. 1100 O 85- imageExtensive Collection of Used in 7 Lighthouse Hingeless Albums, 1897 to 2016, we estimate this collection to be between 90 and 95% complete. This completeness is quite high from the 1897 QV Leaf issue all the way up to the 1970s, tending towards the lower end of that range in the more modern years, as per Lighthouse pages, as some of the the missing stamps will tend to be booklets, perf varieties, se-tenant formats and such. One of the nicest and strongest collections we have seen, and it is clear that the collector sought nicely cancelled c.d.s. examples when he could, lightly cancelled when he couldn't. The collection, again as per Lighthouse pages, includes strong back of the book and many souvenir sheets, as well as other material not often seen used. We chose only a few of the stamps that stood out for our online photo, but recommend an in-person viewing to better appreciate the extensive nature of this collection. The good condition albums included would cost over $1,900 to buy new.
