1407 CVR   image1927.FEB.18 Royal Air Force Display Covers, first is a 1a stationery cover addressed to Delhi (same day R.A.F. special receiver on back), second one is a cover franked with a 1a stamp, addressed to Calcutta (with Delhi FEB.18 and Calcutta FEB.20 backstamps) with photographic cachet depicting several biplanes and reading "By Aeroplane". Mr. Pont noted that the number of items carried for these was "limited" for one and "unknown" for the other. Also includes a FEB.14.1927 cover mailed Karachi to Calcutta with special purple Crown cachet reading "Air Mails India / By Light Aeroplane / Karachi G.P.O. / With Messrs Stack & Teete", with R.A.F. 1408 CVR   image1927.JUN.25 Dutch Flight Calcutta to Batavia, franked with two 1a stamps tied by Calcutta datestamp, alongside a red and white flight label with small black biplane, the cover is addressed to Batavia (with JUL.1 receiver on back, alongside a Weltevreden datestamp of the same day) there is a 15c Dutch postage due stamp on front. An overall fine cover, with only 31 carried.

1410   image1927.JUN.27 First Demonstration Flight by the "Moth", mailed Calcutta on JUN.27 to Stephen Smith in Calcutta, this ½a stationery postcard shows a purple moth cachet plus a purple "Carried By / D.H. Moth, G.E.B.M.O. / Aeroplane" cachet. The back has a note reading "Certified that this has been flown over Calcutta by D.H. Moth G.E.BMO (....)", signed by E.L. Widdicombe and initialed "W.H.V. 1411 CVR   image1927.JUL.2 First Demonstration Flight by the "Moth", a group of 10 items (7 covers and 3 cards), all different in some way, either addressed to a different person, or differently franked or initialed differently. All bear a black moth cachet, all but one of the covers are initialed by the pilot, and or his assistant. 1412 CVR   image1927.JUL.12 First Dutch Commercial Flight, Calcutta to Karachi, a neat little cover franked 1a KGV, with "12 JULY 1927" handstamp and small airplane photographic cachet with the date of the flight, "Calcutta to Karachi" and "KLM" on the airplane. JUL.14 receiver on back. We have not seen this cover offered anywhere recently, and a very rare cover, with only 15 items flown, this one is numbered 8 at bottom left. Very fine.

1421 CVR   image1928.FEB.13 Etawah to Calcutta Demonstration Flight by German Biplane, with salmon coloured cachet label reading "Deutscher Flug GERMANIA / Casper Biplane / DURCH INDIEN / Etawah", addressed to Calcutta with receivers on back, also showing a second flight label reading "Flugpost / Etawah / Calcutta" alongside Stephen Smith signature. There are two signatures on front, those of the pilot and the mechanic. This flight was abandoned at Sankrail, near Calcutta and is rare, with only 24 covers carried.
