666 CVR 1 image5c red brown Franklin Imperforate on 1850 Folded Cover, mailed from Calais, Maine (lovely c.d.s. in red) to New York City and docketed inside "NOV.6.1850". The cover (no contents) is franked with a horizontal pair of 5c Franklin imperforates, with huge margins on three sides (showing parts of two stamps at top) just cut into at bottom left, neatly tied by two circular grids in red. There is a horizontal crease near the bottom of the cover, affecting the bottom corner of the left stamp only, still a very fine and appealing cover. (Scan a)

670 CVR 1b image5c light orange brown Franklin Imperforate on 1851 Folded Letter, mailed from Philadelphia (postmark illegible, but letter inside clearly datelined MAY.7.1851) to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. The folded letter is franked with a 5c light orange brown, with huge margins (showing next stamp at top) all around, slightly cut into at bottom and cancelled by a partial blue c.d.s. 683 O/ng 73,87, 93 image1863-67 2c black Jackson Collection, starts with a neat drop cover with Philadelphia target duplex, two copies with the F grill (Scott 93, at top of page), an E grill (Scott 87 with pulled perf at right, second row of page). The rest are regular Scott 73, including two unused (no gum, one signed by Paris expert Brun) and one which appears regummed, plus 24 used singles with a variety of postmarks (saw an intaglio "CA" cork), different papers, etc. Overall fine, some may have small faults, still a useful lot for the specialist.
