1128 CVR 36, 41 image1894 Small Queen Cover to Hong Kong China, then Returned, mailed from Toronto on MAR.24.1894 (3c + 2c SQ) to Hong Kong (APR.26 receiver), with address crossed out and re-directed to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with "Per Empress of India" in same red pen. Arrived Halifax on MAY.30, handstamped "UNCLAIMED" in black, then sent to the Dead Letter Office (arrived there JUL.31). Small edge wear and part of backflap missing, still a rare Small Queen destination, with only 4 or 5 covers known addressed to Hong Kong, and this one having interesting bonus attributes. 1129 CVR 36d, 37e image1877 Small Queen Cover to England, Short Paid, mailed around JAN.15.1877 (Kingston transit on back, dated that day) with a 2c + 3c Small Queens (3c is discoloured) to Birmingham, England, arrived there on JAN.30, with handstamp "MORE-TO-PAY"and a large "7½D" handstamp, plus the same rate in manuscript pen. 1137 190 image10c George Etienne Cartier on Mailing Tag, being a single stamp franking a small tag with purple handstamp "PARCEL POST / COLLECT 15 CENTS", mailed to the Tonopah Mining Co. in Pennsylvania. The address side has another purple handstamp reading "DUTY FREE / ST PAUL, MINN / U.S. CUSTOMS". This was the Pennsylvania office of a famous American mining company, and the bag attached to the tag must have contained an ore sample. Normal creasing, scarce. (Scan a) (Scan b) (All Scans)
