1393 CVR British Commonwealth image1948 Silver Wedding Issue Covers, with 26 covers addressed to the same person in Montreal, from many different countries, mostly franked with blocks of four or six, one has a single, one has two singles and one has a pair of the low value Silver Wedding issues. 1394 CVR British Commonwealth image"Victoria to Elizabeth" Thematic Postal History Exhibit, all neatly displayed on pages, with each cover carefully chosen to show various usages through the different reigns, such as censors (13 covers, including 3 Newfoundland), registered, illustrated covers, first day of issue (Hong Kong 1937 Coronation), damaged mail, mail from less common countries such as Eritrea, military mail (GB FPO in Trieste) and markings, such as "Late Fee Paid" on a 1904 New South Wales cover going to New York. Scans only give a small taste of the excellent quality and scope of this exhibit. An attractive grouping, with 51 covers plus two fronts. 1396 CVR Burma imageAdvanced Collection of Over 250 Covers in 3 Albums, 1907 to 1958, primarily showing usage of India stamps used in Burma plus routes. The albums are titled "Chettiar Mail". Very nicely written-up collection, with many covers having been roughly opened so condition varies. Scans try to give an overview of the material but they only give a small taste of the collection's extent. Finds are quite possible, as there was no attempt to identify smaller or discontinued post offices. Also includes some Japanese Occupation covers. 1404 CVR France imageLarge Carton with Thousands of Covers, all in 6 smaller boxes, each containing a different grouping. Three boxes have several hundreds of commercial mail from the 1900s to the 1940s, with destinations (many to Switzerland, registered, advertizing, frankings, etc.), one contains picture postcards from the 1910s to the 1930s, mostly all mailed, one has a few hundred FDC from the 1970s, and one contains about 100 World War I Army Post covers and cards, with postmark interest, etc. A nice lot full of useful items and inspection is recommended to fully appreciate. 1406 CVR French Ploynesia imageExtensive Collection of First Day Covers from 1953 to 2010, all housed in five large Lighthouse binders with slipcases. The regular issues run from 1958 to 2010 and the Air Mail issues run from 1953 to 1987. The Air Mail section alone catalogue $1,388 (as used stamps only) and include many better items such as C21, 33, 37, 50, 54 and 88. We counted 912 different covers in all, and note that there is a large amount that catalogue in the $10 to $20 plus a number above that, up to $80. The binders alone retail $400. A very nice collection, with lots of topical interest and rarely offered. We have scanned 13 items online. Majority are nice strikes and identifiable towns and/or dated strikes, many are choice socked on the nose and we note many different types of postmarks and towns.
