the 2c Imperial Penny Postage issue of Canada, inscription at top rea1p Black and carmine Society for the Propagation of the Gospel label, a most interesting lithographed label appearing like a postage stamp and bearing a striking resemblance to the 2c Imperial Penny Postage issue of Canada, inscription at top reads "The S.P.G. World" and "Upon which the Sun Never Sets" at bottom, the map shows the Western Hemisphere at left as opposed to the stamp which puts it (including Canada) in the middle, the purpose of the illustration is also similar with the red color showing the societies involvement around the the world, the label is without gum and very fine; also includes an original photographic essay of the main black portion of the design with blank inscription and value tablets, very fine; this society is one of the major Anglican voluntary missionary societies founded in 1701, the origin of this label is not known but it is presumed to have been produced approximately contemporaneous to the 1898 2c Canadian stamp from which it obviously adapted its design; Mr. Fawn in his 30 years of researching and collecting this issue has never seen another example of either the label or the essay and believes them to be the only recorded examples; certainly a fascinating addition to any collection of the Two Cent Map stamp.
