166 Ou 107 image#107, 12c Black re-issue, an enormously rare used example of this re-issue, of which very few are in existence and fewer still are found in sound condition as the copy offered here, featuring outstanding centering amid extravagantly large margins, strikingly intense "jet" black color, usual duplex cancel, extremely fine; of the mere 398 stamps of this re-issue that were issued only thirteen examples have been recorded used, and of that tiny population only five examples are sound, that places the stamp offered here among the very finest available; an important rarity for the serious collector who is attempting to assemble a complete set of used re-issues; 1998 PF certificate and a 2006 PSE certificate (VF 80 - a far too conservative grade in our opinion; SMQ $10,000.00; this is the only used #107 to be graded by the PSE; when this stamp was acquired by its current owner in our December 2005 Premier Sale, it attracted keen bidding competition, resulting in a $14,500.00 realization, plus the 15% buyer's premium; ex-"Ganymede".
