2319 S S.G. #60S-67S var. imageS.G.#60S-67S var., 1921-22 3p to 10/- King George V with "Specimen" overprints from the Madagascar archives cplt., four pieces of the ledger page with horizontal strips of three of each of the five values with multiple Crown and "CA" watermark, each affixed and cancelled by portions of large red "Postes et Telegraphes/Collection de Berne/Madagascar" circular handstamp, very fine; the U.P.U. at this time was sending strips of only three to the member nations, it was the practice of Madagascar to affix them to ledger sheets and at this later period they were not separated into singles as had been the earlier practice; extremely rare and certainly unique as such being one of the few ways to obtain multiples of the specimens; a wonderful addition to a specialized collection of the Cayman Islands; ex-Cooley (Scott #64S-68S var.). 2320 S S.G. #69S-83S var. imageS.G.#69S-83S var., 1922-26 1/4p to 10/- King George V with "Specimen" overprints from the Madagascar archives cplt. for all fourteen values with the multiple Crown and script "CA" watermark, in horizontal strips of three affixed to six pieces of the ledger page and cancelled by portions of large red "Postes et Telegraphes/Collection de Berne/Madagascar" circular handstamp, one piece has the top of page 00036 and dated August 9, 1923, another has the endorsement and signature of the director of posts, very fine; it was the practice of Madagascar to affix the three sets that were sent to the U.P.U. member nations to ledger sheets and at this time they left them in strips of three as received; extremely rare and certainly unique as such being one of the few ways to obtain multiples of the specimens; ideal for an exhibition collection; ex-Cooley (Scott #50S-63S var.).
