403 og 43b/c image#43b/c, 5/- Deep grey and yellow, doubly printed frame, small "OS", wonderfully fresh mint example of this key Kangaroo rarity, of the mere five examples recorded punctured "OS", this is the only mint stamp, vibrant colors on bright paper, well centered, o.g., barest trace of hinging (if at all), very fine; this example, like the unpunctured mint example, shows a second impression of the frame approximately 8mm below the first; an amazing auction event to have not one, but three, examples of the double frame variety in the same sale, unpunctured and punctured small "OS" mint copies, as well as an unpunctured used example (A$31,250). 405 Obl 7/37 image#7/37, 2p to 2/- Third Watermark issue, postally used blocks of four, a difficult assemblage of nine different blocks of four (the 2p a block of six), all postally used with various cancels including Thursday Island c.d.s. on the 9p block, includes two different printings of the 1/-, most rather well centered, all with neat cancels except the 6p with is a bit bold and blurry, small flaws to be expected, but largely fine-very fine (for used singles A$650+). Congress Presentation set, seven values from the 6p (Chestnut) to £2, all Third Watermark (except 9p which is small multiple watermark), each with c.t.o. cancels as prepared for collector's sets, all once presumably contained in the accompanying gold engraved lettered presentation folder entitled "Souvenir of the Universal Postal Congress at London 1929/with the Compliments of the Postmaster General" (couple of tape stains on the inside of the folder), the stamps themselves have o.g., except the 5/- and 2 which have no gum. fine-very fine (for c.t.o singles A$5,225+). 407 og/nhbl 7d/l, 8d/h image#7d/l, 8d/h, 2p Grey black, Die I and Die IIA, plate varieties, a wonderful study lot of 18 plate varieties each identified by their variety and position (where known), all mint (except five used singles) and range from mostly singles and pairs to a block of nine, many specifically listed in the ACSC, includes two examples of the popular "deformed 'LIA'" variety [1L29] in pairs with normal, as well as four used singles showing the "retouched left frame and shading N.W. of map" variety [1L55], o.g., hinging ranging from minor h.r. to n.h., couple with small flaws, overall fine-very fine. 410 og/nhbl 7z image#7z, 2p Grey black, Die I, gem bottom left corner margin CA monogram block of six from Plate 1 (upper), with position 1L55 showing the "retouched left frame and shading on N.W. of map" variety, indicating that this is the pre-substituted cliche, and is the only such monogram block recorded, incredibly fresh and crisp, particularly well centered, rich color, o.g., five stamps n.h. (including monogram), l.h. on top right stamp and in left sheet selvage only, an extremely fine and handsome example of this very scarce monogram multiple which is significantly undercataloged; ex-Col.
