Staehle, in black ink with central illustration of Zeppelin shaded in gray, bold inscriptions at top and bottom that are a hallmark of his cachets, flown on the return flight from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen, tied by "Lakehurst, N.J./May 30, 1930" machine cancel, plus a straight line "Lakehurst, N.J." handstamp on the bottom stamp, violet American return flight cachet and red German flight cachet, backstamped Friedrichshafen and green New York Zeppelin receiving pmk. on return to the United States, slight edge wear not affecting the stamps or markings, very fine; though not as ornate as the one in the Berkun collection, that one was thought to be the only Staehle cachet on a 1930 Pan-American Flight Zeppelin cover, this second cover is certainly exceptionally rare (Sieger €375+; Michel #68Gd). 792 c Sieger #241A/244C Sieger #241A/244C, 1933 Chicago Flight collection of fifteen covers, this flight, which was connected with the Century of Progress World's Fair in Chicago, has always been popular with collectors because of the number of different legs that can be collected, some being decidedly scarcer than others, this collection consists largely of all different legs of the flight, five flew from Friedrichshafen to various destinations including a FDC of New York, two from Miami with a scarcer leg to Akron and a FDC of Miami to Chicago, five are Akron postings including the Akron-Akron posting and two to Seville, one with handstamped backstamp and the other with normal machine cancel, and three from Chicago including the scarcer Seville posting, two covers with printed cachets, all with the appropriate flight cachets and backstamps, fine-very fine and a nice selection of this flight (Michel #347C/355Cd). 800 c Sieger #22A/244C Sieger #22A/244C, 1928/1933 Large collection/accumulation of 75 covers of United States Zeppelin related covers, most are flown but there are a few FDC's and late commemorative covers that were not flown, starts with seven covers of the 1928 America Flight and seventeen covers of the 1929 Round-the-World Flight, many have colorful frankings and we note better air post stamps as well as dollar values such as the $2.00 Dark blue and $2.00 Carmine and black (Scott #479, 547), the 1930 Pan-American Flight is represented by twelve covers including six covers with 65c Zeppelin franking and one each with the $1.30 and $2.60 Zeppelin values, fifteen covers are of the Chicago Flight with the 50c Zeppelin including some FDC's, three of which are not flown, then there are another 24 covers of miscellaneous Zeppelin material including a few flown covers of the U.S.S. Akron, commemorative covers and covers that were intended to be flown but for some reason did not, condition is mixed with faults present to some covers and stamps, but also a fair amount of useful material in fine-very fine condition; well worth examining (Michel #8Aa/355Cd).
