324 c Sieger #64IIIa imageSieger #64IIIa, 1930 Pan-American Flight, six Canal Zone adhesives, including five air posts, tied to cover with printed Fairway cachet by "Cristobal/Canal Zone/May 29, 1930" machine cancel, to Lakehurst for the return flight of the Zeppelin from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen, however no United States $1.30 Zeppelin was applied for the Zeppelin flight, instead $1.30 of crayon cancelled postage dues was applied to the reverse even though the cover was addressed to Berlin and was not scheduled to come back to the United States, there is no evidence that postage due was collected in Germany, red German and violet American return flight cachets, backstamped Friedrichshafen, then by air to Berlin with boxed connecting flight cachet, very fine and attractive; despite the fact that this is priced less in Sieger, lacking the valuable Zeppelin franking, it is part of the sending of only 20 Canal Zone covers flown on this leg of the flight and it is the only example we have seen with postage dues; ex-Belinkoff (Sieger €1,350; Michel #68Gb var.).
