1222 c Substantial twentieth century advertising cover collection of 225 covers, most are illustrated covers from first quarter of the 20th century but including a few late 19th century, featured in this collection are over 40 attractive multicolor covers, many of which have illustrations that cover large portions of the front and often the back as well, we note such items as White Mountain Refrigerators with an illustration of a Zeppelin on the front and gorgeous illustrations on the reverse, Ethan Allen Flour, Buffalo Forge Co., two different Flexible Flyer Sled covers and a Minneapolis International Food Co. cover, all of these have beautiful front and back multicolor illustrations as do a number of others, the rest of the covers have a wide range of subjects such as cigars and tobacco, Indians, animals of various kinds and much more, throughout are found original enclosures which includes advertising materials, illustrated letterheads and return envelopes, we also note postal cards with illustrated advertising which are not only scarce, but popular, as well as post cards with adhesives, condition varies as would be expected in a collection of this size, but the vast majority are attractive and salable covers; in all a significant and varied collection of desirable advertising covers; examination highly recommended to appreciate the scope and value of this collection. 1223 c Fascinating military cover collection consisting of over 50 covers from as early as the Spanish American War, including a couple of patriotic covers, various WWI covers including a letter to a soldier endorsed and handstamped "Deceased", a group of over 20 covers with naval ship cancels, marines in Haiti and Shanghai, plus a few WWII patriotic covers, of particular note are five hand illustrated covers by soldiers, three by a private/corporal Anthony Esposito in the 485th Fighter Squadron have excellent drawings of fighter planes in combat in colors or pen and ink, mostly fine-very fine; an interesting lot that is worth examining. 1224 c Interesting air post cover collection of over 120 covers including special flights and FFC's, some of the better items we note are about a dozen Admiral R. E. Byrd related covers including two covers with his autograph, another cover with the signature of Lawrence McKinley Gould, second in command of the Byrd Expedition, also included are eleven Zeppelin covers, mostly U.S. postings but a couple of Germany and an Argentina cover also, includes a 1929 Round-the-World Flight cover flown on the return leg from the U.S. to Germany with a pair of 50c Violet, perf. 10 Franklin issue, accompanying 1992 PF certificate declines to distinguish between #440 and #477, but both are extremely rare used on cover, plus many more, condition varies but mostly fine-very fine. 1225 cF 620/2122 #620/ 2122, 1925-1985 Small first day cover collection of 64 different covers, mostly from the 1920's-1930's, starting with #631 and the 1925 Norse Americans, each on individual uncacheted covers with blocks, rest are cacheted and include the entire 1938-39 Presidential series cplt. including all the coils and booklet panes, on matching House of Farnum cacheted covers, also includes a couple of covers with hand painted cachets including the 5c Motorcycle transportation coil (#1899) with Frieda "Dickie" Weaver hand painted cachet, not only are hers done in very limited edition (this one only 30 produced), but they show the highest of artistic skill of all the handpainted cachets, also an additional three 1930 registered covers with 20th century fancy cancels (not FDC's), including one from Boat, Kentucky with original registry receipt, fine-very fine or better; a nice quality lot of first day covers.
