2043 c AAMC #1145b imageAAMC #1145b,1931, July 28 New York to Istanbul Flight by Russell Boardman and John Polando, this cover had originally been prepared for an American Legion flight receiving a purple cachet, when that flight was cancelled the cover was sent on to Germany for the DO-X flight receiving 1M-3M German Eagle air posts and the two DO-X cachets, when it came back it was given to Russell Boardman who carried it on his flight to Istambul receiving a two line cachet to that affect, signed by Russell Boardman and others, very fine and scarce transatlantic record flight for the the longest non-stop distance, much scarcer having been flown on the DO-X.
