United States Stamps continued...

1894 Bureau Issues continued...
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
401 O image#261A, $1.00 Black, Ty. II, a superlative used example of this scarce and difficult Bureau issue, being in a quality that is almost never encountered among the existing used copies, incredibly well centered amid very large margins which are most uncharacteristic, plus its color is particularly intense and its impression razor sharp on bright paper, fully intact and even perforations all around, superbly cancelled with a neat town c.d.s. (a rare occurrence on a dollar value Bureau issue) confined to the bottom left corner, an extremely fine gem for the collector who seeks out used stamps only in extraordinary quality; 1992 PSE and 1994 PF certificates; ex-Hoffner, Rubin. (Image) 750.00

SOLD for $2,800.00
Closing..May-21, 04:00 PM
402 O image#262, $2.00 Bright blue, an exciting used example that ranks among the finest, if not being the finest, used Two Dollar unwatermarked Bureau issues in existence, as this stamp possesses all of the extraordinary physical attributes that are missing on other known used copies, including being incredibly well centered amid very large margins, its color is deep and luxuriant, while its impression could not be more detailed on especially bright paper, very light and face-free cancellation confined to the bottom right (much more desirably postmarked than the more typically seen heavy registry cancels), extremely fine; a used gem whose equal we have never seen; 1961 and 1992 PF certificates; ex-Engel. (Image) 1,200.00

SOLD for $4,000.00
Closing..May-21, 04:00 PM
403 O image#263, $5.00 Dark green, a fabulous quality used example of one of the rarest regularly issued stamps in U.S. philately, being in a condition unlike any other used example we have ever seen, incredibly fresh, with sumptuously rich color and a deeply etched impression on bright paper, magnificently centered as well, with uncharacteristically wide and perfectly balanced margins all around, only very lightly cancelled by a highly desirable town c.d.s. at bottom right, essentially leaving the entire central vignette cancel free, superb; the rarity of this stamp used in such gem condition cannot be overemphasized, as the great majority of used #263's are found either with faults, heavily cancelled, or both; quite likely the finest used Five Dollar 1894 unwatermarked Bureau issue in existence; 2000 PF certificate. (Image) 2,500.00

SOLD for $7,250.00
Closing..May-21, 04:00 PM
