583 ogOblc S.G. #1/151, P1a/F15, A remarkable and voluminous specialist collection/accumlation of a vast array of Orange River Colony material, of all the British African areas this colony has more interesting varieties in a relatively small number of issues because of the numerous surcharges that were made in different types and settings, it has fascinated collectors who have devoted years into the study of its stamps, plating them and finding the seemingly endless varieties, this accumulation is a product of such a study, it includes literally thousands of stamps including numerous stamps mounted on old time pages in folders, written-up in detail specifying varieties, there are also multiples including full sheets, and to go with them are numerous photographs of full sheets of various issues to show the settings of the overprints, one valuable stock book is organized in order specifying the Stanley Gibbons number and having thousands of mint and used, the catalog value of which is enormous, being perfect for study or as stock for a dealer, in addition to the normally issued stamps there are numerous other categories including the post cards stamps on mint and used cards as well as regular postal cards, revenues are present, both as used revenue stamps as well as the postal fiscals mint or with postal cancels, telegraph stamps are also present including multiples for plating, there is a collection of cancels identified and arranged by location, and even a few covers including some military railway covers, plus other interesting miscellaneous material of this colony, condition varies as would be expected but the vast majority is o.g. or used and mostly fine-very fine; this is by far one of the most interesting and valuable hoards of this interesting country that we have ever handled; Stanley Gibbons catalog value for just the listed material is in excess of £35,000. Est. 7,500-10,000
