199 og imageS.G. #24, 1889 20/- Green and red, the rare key value of this country, a mint single that is quite well centered with perforations clear of the design all around, colors are deep and rich except for a tiny spot at top right where slight perf. toning has been lightened, otherwise o.g., very fine; this stamp was withdrawn in 1893 because of a theft of 1,440 stamps and the value in new colors was issued, 950 stamps from the theft were recovered and destroyed, thus this stamp is of exceptional rarity in mint condition; 1990 BPA certificate (Scott #24; $3,250.00). 209 ogO S.G. #2/29, An extensive mint and used collection consisting of over 110 mostly different stamps with the different types of "G" overprints of this short-lived colony that was part of Cape of Good Hope, a wonderful array of these issues with a large portion of them being the scarcer larger size "G" overprints in the various types, both red and black, most are used but mint values are found throughout including mint S.G. #11i accompanied by BPA certificate (two others with BPA certificates as well), condition varies as is usual with these scarce issues, but most are attractive with many fine-very fine; one of the largest and nicest collections of this country that we have had the pleasure of offering (Scott #2/102).
