Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1256 O 271a image#271a, 6c Dull brown, watermarked "USIR" in error, a select used example of this especially rare stamp, being much better centered than the handful of examples that are known, as most copies are quite off center and/or have faults, this example is sound and is particularly desirable in that it has a clear nearly full "R" of the watermark (many have the "I"), so there is no doubt about the identification, light and unobtrusive target cancel, very fine; only fifteen used examples have been certified by the Philatelic Foundation, this appears to be an additional stamp to those, though it was purchased several decades back in a Robert A. Siegel auction and has not been on the market in many years. (Image) 5,000.00
