Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
221 O S.G. #15 imageS.G. #15, 1875 1p Green, perf. 15, wmk. large star, a marvelously well centered example of this extremely rare stamp, with perforations well clear of the design all around, "B" cancel of Victoria dated October 1877, extremely fine; this rare stamp resulted because of a tiny printing in perforation 15 by Perkins Bacon to replace some poorly perforated 14 sheets by Somerset House, all 4,800 of the stamps were sent to Grenada, but few have survived, a census of known examples revealed ten used singles, a used strip of four and an unused single, four of the ten used examples are found in the Walker collection, this being the best centered (Scott #7Ac; $2,250.00). (Image) £2,000

SOLD for $3,500.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM

SOLD for $2,600.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM

SOLD for $2,500.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
224 O S.G. #15 imageS.G. #15, 1875 1p Green, perf. 15, wmk. large star, a fresh and lightly cancelled example of this very elusive stamp, cancel is identifiable as a "C" cancel of Sauteurs of February 1878, very fine; of the four examples in the Walker collection three were used from Victoria, this is the only one used from Sauteurs, and only ten used singles in total are recorded (Scott #7Ac; $2,250.00). (Image) £2,000

SOLD for $1,700.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
225 ogbl S.G. #16 S.G. #16, 1878 1p Green, intermediate perf. 15, wmk. sideways small star, pretty and scarce block of six (2x3), this printing is similar to the early printing Perkins, Bacon & Co. did in 1873, this block is exceptionally well centered, particularly the top pair, full o.g., the center pair is n.h., very fine-extremely fine (Scott #5Bc, $1,800.00+). (Image) £1,350+

SOLD for $1,800.00

226 O S.G. #16, 16b imageS.G. #16, 16b, 1878 1p Green, intermediate perf. 15, wmk sideways small star, diagonal bisect, plus single tied to piece by "B/Mar. 27/1879" double circle parish c.d.s of Victoria, stamps are well tied and attractively centered, probably on a piece of a newspaper wrapper as this was the rate from the outlying post offices to Britain, very fine; bisect listed in Stanley Gibbons but unpriced (Scott #5Bc, 5Bch, $7,500.00 on cover). (Image) Est. 400-500

SOLD for $800.00

227 c S.G. #13, 16, 16b imageS.G. #16, 16b, 1878 1p Green, intermediate perf. 15, wmk. sideways small star, diagonal bisect in pair with single, some toned perfs., plus 1875 1/- Deep Mauve (S.G. #13), on 1878 cover to France, the stamps are tied across the bisect and to each other by "A15" in bars oval cancels as well as the red London Paid c.d.s., small August Grenada c.d.s of the General Post Office at St. George's on the reverse, backstamped Grenoble, cover is facially quite attractive but is opened on three sides with numerous edge tears and creases, which largely do not affect the stamps or markings, small portions missing from the back edges of the cover from mounting, nevertheless a fine and very rare cover; this is one of three covers from the General Post Office to France with 1p bisects, it is rated in red crayon "1/0 1/2", the amount due to Great Britain for ocean passage and delivery to France, the extra 1p in the franking being for internal postage of Grenada, this is probably the correct rate to France as opposed to the 8p or 8 1/2p that are found on other bisect covers from the parish post offices; this particular 1p bisect is listed but not priced in Stanley Gibbons; ex-Dale-Lichtenstein (Scott #5Bc, 5Bch, 11). (Image) Est. 5,000-7,500

SOLD for $14,000.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM

SOLD for $625.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
229 ng S.G. #17 imageS.G. #17, 1878 6p Deep vermilion, intermediate perf. 15, wmk. sideways small star, brilliant unused horizontal pair, unusually well centered with center vertical perforations fitting into a narrow space hardly big enough for the perforations, color is radiant and exceptionally fresh, extremely fine; of all the 6p printings between 1863 and 1879 there are only seven unused multiples recorded, mostly pairs, this pair of the last printing of the 6p is the third unused pair of different 6p values in the Walker collection. (Image) £1,500+

SOLD for $2,100.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
230 O S.G. #17a imageS.G. #17a, 1878 6p Deep vermilion, intermediate perf. 15, wmk. sideways small star, double impression, used example with clear "D" cds of Grenville, strong color, impression is clearly doubled in all parts of the design, centered to the bottom left, fine and scarce variety (Scott #5Df; $1,750.00). (Image) £1,500

231 O S.G. #18, 18b imageS.G. #18, 18b, 1879 1p Pale green, rough perf. 15, wmk. small star, diagonal bisect along with single, tied to piece of St. George's Chronicle with address to Glasgow, Scotland by "C/Jun. 7/188(0)" c.d.s. of Sauteurs, a nice size piece showing the authorized use of bisects for the 1 1/2p rate from the outlying parish post offices to Britain, very fine; bisect listed but not priced in Stanley Gibbons. (Image) Est. 500-750

SOLD for $1,300.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
232 O S.G. #13, 18, 18b imageS.G. #18, 18b, 1879 1p Pale green, rough perf. 15, wmk. small star, diagonal bisect, tied to piece along with pair of 1p and 1875 1/- Deep mauve (S.G. #13), all tied by "B/Mar. 27/182" (1882) double circle c.d.s. of Victoria, stamps with minor perf. flaws, otherwise very fine and a very scarce piece; from the franking this can be determined to be from a cover to France, there are three similar frankings on covers to France from the St. George's General Post Office with only a single 1p rather than the pair, but being from an outlying parish post office it required an extra 1p, this appears to be the correct rate unlike the underfranked bisect covers that exist from these post offices, and there are no covers known with this franking; bisects listed but unpriced in Stanley Gibbons (Scott #11, 1p not specifically listed for this printing). (Image) Est. 500-750

SOLD for $1,000.00

(Image) Est. 1,000-1,500

SOLD for $1,050.00

234 nhbl S.G. #19 S.G. #19, 1881 1p Green on thin paper, rough perf. 14 1/2, wmk. sideways small star, a lovely top left corner-margin block of four, bright clean color, quite well centered, o.g., stamps n.h. just being lightly hinged in the selvedge, very fine-extremely fine; ex-Pilkington and Schneider (Scott not specifically listed, #5B var.). (Image) £480+

SOLD for $1,250.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
235 c S.G. #19 imageS.G. #19, 1881 1p Pale green on thin paper, rough perf. 14 1/2, wmk. sideways small star, two horizontal pairs tied to cover to Georgetown, British Guiana by blue "Grenada/JY 20 82" c.d.s. with index letter "A", backstamped, tears and small pieces missing from backflap, one of which carries over to the front and affects one stamp in the left pair, otherwise a fine and scarce cover; this is an early use of the blue cancel, which is never very common, and an unusual franking as 4p stamps were now available and the 1p stamps were needed for local mail (Scott not listed for this printing). (Image) Est. 500-750

SOLD for $2,300.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM

(Image) Est. 1,000-1,500

SOLD for $600.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
237 og/nhbl S.G. #21, 21d imageS.G. #21, 21d, 1881 "Half-Pence" surcharge on Deep mauve, a stunningly pretty block of 24 (8x3), beautifully centered for these extremely tightly set stamps, brilliant fresh color and possessing full o.g., 22 stamps are n.h. being hinged in the bottom corner stamps only, extremely fine; this block shows exceptionally well the various types of hyphens that exist between the "Half" and "Penny" ranging from just a point to very long, thick and thin, etc., in addition the the second stamp at left in the bottom row is the listed variety of no hyphen; a lovely piece for exhibit (Scott #8, 8e; $413.00+). (Image) £443+

SOLD for $750.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
238 ngbl S.G. #21a imageS.G. #21a, 1881 "Half-Penny" surcharge on Deep mauve, imperforate, left sheet-margin block of four, unused, without gum as is usually the case, well clear to wide margins all around, trivial thin speck in top left stamp, otherwise very fine and choice (Scott #8b; $600.00+). (Image) £550

SOLD for $800.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
240 ng S.G. #21e imageS.G. #21e, 1881 "alf-Penny" surcharge error on Deep mauve, a fresh unused example of this extremely rare variety caused by a piece of type falling out of the setting, centered to the top right slightly into the design, quite typical of this issue, bright fresh color, a fine example of this very elusive and popular error; this is one of just two copies that have come on the market in the last 30 years; double signed Georg Buhler and accompanied by his 1981 certificate (Scott #8c; $3,000.00). (Image) £3,000

SOLD for $4,250.00
