548 ogBP 53d image#53d, 2c Vermilion and black, booklet pane of six, left vertical row without "Canal Zone", the unique intact example of this eye-catching error, fresh and bright, full original gum, fine-very fine; the rarest Canal Zone booklet pane and a world-class booklet pane rarity that would be the highlight of an award-winning collection of either Canal Zone or booklet panes, only two panes with this error were ever found, this being the only intact example, the other having been broken up into a block and a pair (the pair used on the Coveleski cover); this pane was last sold in our November 15-16, 1996 sale of the Helme collection, where it was acquired by the current owner for $7,500.00, plus the 10% buyer's premium, which Scott used as the basis for its current pricing; 1954 PF and 1969 APS certificates; ex-Conger and illustrated in Canal Zone Stamps (CZSG #53d).
