1322 O RS232a image#RS232a, Swain, Jas., 8c Orange, imperforate, an extravagantly margined example of this very scarce stamp in imperforate format and perfectly centered within those margins, all the examples we have seen have margins closer on one or more sides, brilliant orange color on fresh paper, trivial edge thin speck and one vertical crease which virtually every one of these stamps has, otherwise extremely fine and the most impressive appearing example of the handful of recorded copies. 1324 O RS234b image#RS234b, Swain, Wm., 8c Orange, silk paper, imperforate, an impressive appearing example of an exceptionally rare stamp, of which there are believed be less than eight surviving copies of this stamp imperforate, this stamp is particularly nice with clear to large margins all around, intense bright color on fresh paper, virtually all examples are faulty to some degree, this has light horizontal and vertical creases plus a couple of tiny stains at center, all much less severe than most, a very fine example and among the finest quality for this rare issue. 1325 O RS234d image#RS234d, Swain, Wm., 8c Orange, watermarked, imperforate, a wonderfully well margined single, margins are large to extra large all around, in addition this stamp possesses excellent appearance with bright deep color, usual light vertical creases and tiny pinhole at left, extremely fine appearance; this stamp is much scarcer than would be expected as there is an imprint strip of seven which is not likely to be broken, available singles are probably less than a dozen and this being one of the finest; ex-Joyce. 1330 O RS238b image#RS238b, Swett, G.W., 4c Green, die cut and perforated at ends, remarkable well centered combination of die cutting and perforating, far better than any we have seen, in addition the stamp is fresh and attractive with deep color on bright white paper, and also has far fewer flaws than the majority of this stamp with only a tiny thin speck keeping it from being entirely sound, extremely fine and choice. 1331 O RS240c image#RS240c, Tallcot, George, 4c Black, pink paper, a very presentable example of an exceedingly rare stamp, this issue is quite common on silk paper or watermarked paper, but on pink paper there are only three or four examples known, this example shows this variety exceptionally well as the paper is a strong dark pink, margins are clear to large all around though centered to the bottom, two small closed tears at bottom (all known examples are faulty), very fine appearance; this stamp comes from the Morton Dean Joyce collection and it is the only example that we have ever seen offered; a great medicine stamp rarity; ex-Col. 1339 O RS267a image#RS267a, Wilder, Edward, 4c Vermilion, die cut, an unbelievable gem example, the die cut issues are usually less desirable, but not only does this not come imperforate on old paper, but this is the most amazing die-cut stamp of these issues that we have seen, it is virtually perfectly centered within margins that are larger than normally associated with this, bright rich color, and completely sound, extremely fine and it would certainly be a difficult task to find one better.
