85 O imagePE-PL (S.G. Spec. AS23), a stunning strip of eight, excellent colour, balanced and highlighted by the red Maltese Cross cancellations, full to very large margins, two stamps have light vertical creases and there are also two faint traces of thinning, none of which detracts from the generally very fine condition for such a rare multiple of this size and format; 1996 BPA certificate; ex-"Daisy". (Image) Est. £2,000-2,500

Closed or SOLD for £2,000.00
Closing..Mar-15, 08:00 AM
86 c imageSI intense black (S.G. Spec. AS22th), early impression, good to large margins except clipped top right corner, tied to 1840 (23 May) envelope sent locally within London, cancelled by Maltese Cross in red and straight-line "Charing Cross" h.s., showing distinct "PD/MY 23/1840" framed d.s. in red on reverse, some toning which slightly affects the stamp, nevertheless an attractive and noteworthy May date for this plate, being the earliest known postal use of Plate 4 and probably unique; with accompanying letter (26.6.39) from J.B. Seymour: "The stamp is unquestionably Plate 4...the cover is clearly dated May 23...The imprimatur sheet was sent to Somerset House on May 19. The statement by Wright & Creeke that it was put to press on May 28 is evidently incorrect. It will be duly noted..."; 1998 Brandon certificate. (Image) Est. £5,000-6,000

Closed or SOLD for £5,000.00
Closing..Mar-15, 08:00 AM

(Image) Est. £800-1,000

Closed or SOLD for £9,000.00
Closing..Mar-15, 08:00 AM

Closed or SOLD for £8,000.00
