AS15), prooflike early impression showing all the detail of the fine engraving, bright clear colour and large to very large margins, on 1840 (6 May) entire letter from London to Thornbury, Gloucestershire, tied by Maltese Cross in red and showing on reverse "C/MY-6/1840" c.d.s., unusually the stamp has been affixed with sealing wax (in the early days the general public was not predisposed to licking the reverse of the labels so a number of stamps are found attached to covers by this means) and there is a light horizontal bend as a result of this method (not mentioned on the accompanying certificate), a very fine and handsome cover bearing the Penny Black on its first day of usage; clear 1995 BPA certificate. AS15), both sharp impressions indicative of the early printings, mostly good to large margins (QD very close at lower left corner) on 1840 (6 May) entire letter (minor splitting at joins), tied by Maltese Cross in red, showing straight-line "Strand. D" h.s. adjacent and "C/MY 6/1840" c.d.s. on reverse, a barely perceptible horizontal filing creases crosses the stamps and cracks the surface but does not significantly detract from what is a very fine and almost certainly unique double rate first day cover from Plate 2, of exceptional appeal and an ideal showpiece; 1984 BPA certificate; ex-Shaida and "Tes".
