United States Stamps continued...

1919-1922 Rotary Press Printings continued...
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
641 O 613 image#613, 2c Harding, rotary press perforated 11, quite well centered for this, particularly when compared to other existing examples, with its perforations well clear of the design all around (a rare occurrence), intensely rich color and an unusually clean impression on bright paper, very light and unobtrusive wavy line machine postmark, completely devoid of the faults which affect many of the known copies, very fine. The Two Cent Harding rotary press perforated 11 stamp is one of the most sought-after rarities in United States philately. There are 39 confirmed singles and two pairs known - all of which are used. Nearly two-thirds of the existing population are sound, however a great many of these are found quite poorly centered, often with the perforations cutting the design. The Lessin copy is among the better centered examples available and one of the most eye appealing in terms of its overall quality. A highly desirable example of this important rarity. Accompanied by a 1975 PF certificate. (Image) for fine 27,500.00
