Ib design characteristics exceedingly well, choice central strike of a "New York/Nov 21" four-bar slug town c.d.s., a superb used gem; a spectacular stamp that possesses a remarkable combination of condition and rarity; easily the finest used #5A to appear on the auction market in the last couple of years; signed and plated on reverse by Stanley B. Ia, position 95L4, handsome used example of this important classic rarity, margins ranging from just touching to mostly large, intense dark shade and a deeply etched impression on especially bright paper allowing the distinctive Ty. Ia design characteristics to show extremely well, only very lightly cancelled at bottom, some very minor and small hinge thinning, otherwise very fine for this; the extreme rarity of Ty. Ia stamps is due to the fact that only 18 of the 20 positions on the bottom row of plate 4 sheets produced this type, which shows a full design at bottom; 1978 PF certificate and a clear 1993 PSE certificate.
