"Paid Pollard 4/-" at left, the corner with indicia was once bent back and affixed to the reverse with the wax seal, the printed Vera frank was largely torn away at left, but has been professionally restored, a terribly rare and interesting conjunctive use, especially with the express label; illustrated in Nathan and Letters of Gold; ex-Clifford and Edwards. 1573 c The Butte County, California postal history collection of 138 covers all from towns located in Butte County (county is located north of Sacramento), 75 of the covers are from the 19th century (as early as 1856), and the remaining 63 covers are from the 20th century (largely 1900 to the 1930's), a remarkable 69 different towns represented, often with a cover from both the 19th and 20th centuries, many smaller and scarce towns are noted such as Bidwell's Bar, Big Bend, Cana, Enterprise, Nimshew and Oak Arbor, interesting range of usages and cancellations, condition is a bit mixed as is often the case when trying to assemble such a collection, nevertheless this impressive group is nearing completion for an example from every known town in Butte County.
