1443 og U457 var. image#U457 var., 2c on 2c Carmine on blue, the controversial die 1, type 3 surcharge, a mint full corner cut square being an unquestioned die 1 which, until recently, was listed in Scott, however recent editions of the Scott catalog only list dies 5, 6 and 7, the UPSS catalog does not list or price the die 1, but only makes the comment "This envelope is listed in the Scott catalog but we do not have any other information on it." (this before they delisted it), measuring 44x43mm, quite fresh, extremely fine; an item that is potentially very rare and worthy of further study by specialists; 2000 PF certificate; ex-Haller and Summers. 1446 ogc U458f/498b image#U458f/498b, 1920 and 1925 Revalued Surcharge varieties, a fascinating lot containing 15 mint entires each with a significant surcharge error, such as double, double/one inverted, double in two different colors, and double in two different types of surcharges, all on various 3c entires, except one being a 1c entire, we note that two different size entires are included which have the scarce "1 cent" surcharge inverted that was intended only for postal cards, in addition to having double two cent surcharges (all on the same entires), most are quite clean, overall very fine or better; ex-Summers. 1455 ogc U466 image#U466, 2c on 2c Carmine on white, die 6, type 4 surcharge, UPSS die 120(E), size 10, knife 58, wmk. 19, mint entire, additionally franked with a 1c Green adhesive (#498) alongside indicia, wonderfully fresh and choice, just a couple of trivial facial rubs to entire in center (so inconsequential as to not even be mentioned on the accompanying certificate), very fine; an enormously rare 20th century mint entire as no more than four or five are thought to exist, and all, to our knowledge, have the additional 1c adhesive affixed; the last example of this rarity to appear at auction was in our June 2000 sale of Dr. Jerry Summers collection, and his example realized a record price of $21,000.00, plus the 10% buyer's premium; 1999 PF certificate; ex-Barkhausen and "Michigan" Collection (UPSS #2922). 1456 ogc U466 var. image#U466 var., 2c on 2c Carmine on white, die 6, an extraordinary example of this incredibly rare mint entire, having the correct indicia and surcharge, but that is where the similarity ends with any other existing example, as its size (23), knife (106) and watermark (20) are all different than those listed in the UPSS catalog, furthermore the indicia is printed on the inside and the type 4 surcharge of Brooklyn is inverted, faint vertical bend of little importance, very fine; an unquestionably unique and fascinating entire for the serious stationery collector; 1994 PF certificate.
