1241 c SG 1 image1847 Lady McLeod lithographed (5c) blue, vivid color, large margins on three sides, touched at top left, tied to 1847 (May 12) letter sheet (complete text but a few interior side panels missing) from San Fernando to "Messrs. Taylor, Graham and Argos, Port of Spain", neatly cancelled by central pen cross, the stamp has been expertly lifted and replaced and the entire unobtrusively cleaned, nevertheless an excellent and distinctive example of this famous Shipping Co. rarity from a documented correspondence prepaying the 5 cents internal inter-port rate and recognized as the first stamp issued in the British Colonies; Pemberton, Wilson and Co. guarantee, signed Livingston and accompanied by 1982 Holcombe and 1992 R.P.S. certificates (S.G. #1).
