1983 og S.G. #58a imageS.G. #58a, 1956 "1 1/2 ANNAS" surcharge on 1 1/2p Green, watermarked St. Andrews Crown, the example offered here is the only known mint example of this stamp in existence, being marvelously well centered and quite fresh, o.g., lightly hinged, extremely fine; S.G. #58a is actually the result of a printing error, as a few sheets were printed on paper watermarked with St. Andrews Crown, with the sole exception of the mint single offered here, all other examples of this stamp have been found used, most typically in Dubai, but a couple are known used from both Muscat and Bahrain; one of the most important mint British stamps of the 20th century; certificate #66459 on file with the Royal Philatelic Society (Scott #56A; unpriced mint). 1984 og/nh S.G. #1/415, O1-10 S.G. #1/415, O1-10, Clean mint collection of a few hundred stamps and a couple of souvenir sheets, being a very comprehensive collection of this surprisingly difficult country, essentially complete from the British overprinted stamps in 1944 through the Independent issues of Oman in 1977 (less, of course, the unique mint example of S.G. #58a), from 1978 through 1995 the collection is nearing completion with only a few sets and souvenir sheets missing, all neatly housed in black mounts on Scott pages, o.g., earliest British issues l.h., rest n.h., all fine-very fine or better (Scott #1/368, B1, O1-10).
