40 c   New York City postal history comprehensive collection and exhibit offered largely intact, neatly mounted and eruditely written-up on exhibit pages, ranges from Colonial times to 1900 and covers most aspects of philately, there are a great many stampless starting with straight line Colonial handstamps and continuing with various styles of straight line postmarks, there is also an extensive study of circular date stamps with a wide range of sizes, styles and many integral rates ranging from 1c to 40c, also good Trans-Atlantic covers including depreciated currency, excellent Forwarding Agents with several unlisted markings, railroad usages, drop letters, carriers, locals, express companies, express mail, auxiliary markings such as "Advertised", "Dead Letter Office", "Cannot be Found", etc., stamped covers include a strong showing of foreign mail rates and destinations, NYFM cancels, fancy cancels including shield and "US", postage due, special delivery, registered, machine cancels and the like, there are also some Civil War patriotic covers and some illustrated and advertising, better frankings include #6LB5 (2), 9X1, 1, 33, 71 (2), one a single franking on a domestic cover, 76, 77 (2), 89, 162 and 162, some stamps with faults, most cover are fine to very fine; this is an excellent opportunity for collector or dealer alike as not only is it fun to view, but there are a plethora of nice $25.00 to $250.00 or more retail value covers present.
