The Collier example is, without question, the finest of those five sound copies. In fact, it is one of the finest quality used examples of any 1861 Re-issue. This stamp was recently submitted to the Professional Stamps Experts for grading, where it received by far the highest grade for a used #107, and is accompanied by a note from master grader William Litle, which says "perhaps 98 if not for the cancel". We feel this cancel is no more heavy or objectionable than what is typically found on re-issues, plus it helps to confirm the stamp's contemporaneous usage.A stamp for the collector who demands only the very finest quality available. Accompanied by a 2009 PSE certificate (XF-Superb 95; SMQ $40,100.00); this is the highest grade ever given to a used #107 (the next highest being a mere 80), and is the only example to be given the grade of XF-Superb 95; ex-Sheriff, Zoellner. This is identical in number to the used 24c Re-issue. This miniscule number is less than any of the other values except the extremely rare 90c value (five recorded examples). Even the 30c has fourteen recorded copies despite its higher catalog value. Furthermore, it is doubtful that more than half of the ten known 15c stamps are sound. The example offered here is one of the four or five sound examples available to collectors and represents a great opportunity to acquire a used stamp that often does not come on the market for long periods of time. Accompanied by a 2009 PSE certificate (F-VF 75; not priced in this grade); this is the only used #108 in the PSE population report; ex-Sheriff, Zoellner. (Image) $16,000.00
