George Nobbs, who attempted to Minister to the Mind, Body and Soul of the PA fabulous early correspondence to and from the Pitcairn Islands in the 19th century, 1845-1880, all from an original find from the family correspondence of The Reverend George Nobbs, who attempted to "Minister to the Mind, Body and Soul of the Pitcairn and Norfolk Inhabitants," includes correspondence to and from Rev. Nobbs or to his family members, 41 items in all, typically being the original envelope and letter contents (if not a folded entire), either being addressed to or from the Pitcairn, often addressed to the Norfolk Islands, the letters themselves provide a rare glimpse of life on the Islands, not to mention early correspondence to and from the Pitcairn Islands, particularly in the 1845 to 1860 period is extremely rare, as very few letters and/or covers exist, in fact this is likely to be the single largest holding of early Pitcairn postal history in existence; because this correspondence was discovered and housed in the attic of a house on Norfolk Island, there are condition problems (some staining and others affected by vermin) to be expected, nonetheless this is a most remarkable assemblage that is perfect for further study and/or exhibition; virtually all of the letters are accompanied by a typed transcript.
