2141 1867-68 5c-100c Condor usages on document collection, an interesting collection consisting of seventeen documents written up on pages with the state of the plate identified on the 5c Green issues and all are plated, twelve have 5c Green usages from a single up to a block of sixteen and single (second re-engraving), most are from the original plate, fifth state but we note a pair from the early second state in a bright yellow green shade, two 5c documents have additional 50c Orange and two with additional 100c Blue, others include a 50c Orange block of five in a deep orange shade, two 100c single franking documents, plus a scarce 5c Violet horizontal strip of four and another scarce document with 10c Brown sole usage, condition varies but most are fine-very fine and attractive. 2150 c 1868 Nine Star issue postal history study of 34 covers written up on pages, all with various combinations of the 5c Green and 10c Vermilion values which were the main values of this series that were used to make up the various domestic rates and foreign mail to the various costal countries of South America, includes two single 5c frankings for mail within the same department, a variety of single letter rate covers with two 5c or a single 10c franking showing different towns and markings, also six covers with 15c postage for domestic double rate with either three 5c or a 5c and a 10c, ten covers to Argentina or Peru with various franking combinations of the two values including two double rate letters to Salta, Argentina, one with 5c Green strip of three and two singles and the other with three 5c singles and a 10c Vermilion, also includes a cover to France with 10c paying domestic postage and sent via the British post office in Cobija, the covers have been collected for their attractiveness and usage, where the same franking is found the towns and cancellation are different, condition is very clean and attractive overall with few exceptions; a valuable postal history collection of this early stamp issue. 2151 c 1869 50c Yellow brown revenue, tied to foreign mail cover to France, stamp is tied by an indistinct portion of Administracion de Correos de Bolivia(La Paz) single circle c.d.s., addressed to Paris with Lyon c.d.s. on the front and bold 7 due1869 50c Yellow brown revenue, tied to foreign mail cover to France, stamp is tied by an indistinct portion of "Administracion de Correos de Bolivia/(La Paz)" single circle c.d.s., addressed to Paris with Lyon c.d.s. on the front and bold "7" due handstamp, backstamped Paris, none of the markings have a clear year date though the Lyon cancel ends in "9" and the period of the La Paz cancel is likely to be 1870's or 1880's making 1879 a possibility, stamp is well centered, light soiling to the cover, a fine and very rare cover; this revenue issue, showing an allegorical figure of Justice, was valid for postage for the three lower values of 5c, 10c and 50c, as with other early issues nearly all of the postal usages were of the two lower values, the 50c was seldom used and the cover offered here is believed to be the only recorded example of this value used on cover. 2152 1868 Allegory of Justice revenue issue, collection of fourteen legal documents with various values of this issue being fiscally used as they were primarily intended even though this issue was valid for postage as well, includes different types of documents with wide range of fees made up by various values, we note two documents each with 25 10c Green paying 2.50P, other more interesting usages include a 5c and 10c plus a 50c diagonal bisect paying a 40c fee, two with the rare 500c Blue, one accompanied by a 10c Green and another with a 10c and 50c paying 5.60P, also three with 100c Orange values in various combinations, all are quite attractive and neatly written up on pages identifying the types of documents, fine-very fine. 2153 c 1868 Allegory of Justice revenues postally used, attractive postal history lot of this revenue issue that was valid for postage, includes nine covers and two fronts, four covers show pairs of the 5c Black paying the domestic letter rate from different towns plus two similar covers with 10c Green single frankings, also includes a rare cover to Valparaiso, Chile with two pairs of 5c Black tied by Potosi c.d.s. and a similar cover from Tupiza to Salta, Argentina from a well known correspondence with the stamps left uncancelled as was typical of this post office, one front has a pair left uncancelled going to Amsterdam, condition varies but most are fine-very fine; these revenues were issued in 1868 between the Nine Star and Eleven Star issues, however nearly all the usages are in the early 1870's and may have related to stamp shortages of the regular postal issues. 2154 c 17 17, 1869 50c Blue, an extraordinarily rare single franking on folded entire foreign mail letter to France via the British Postal Agency in Cobija, letter is datelined August 30, 1874 at Sucre, the stamp is tied by two heavy indistinct double#17, 1869 50c Blue, an extraordinarily rare single franking on folded entire foreign mail letter to France via the British Postal Agency in Cobija, letter is datelined August 30, 1874 at Sucre, the stamp is tied by two heavy indistinct double-circle c.d.s. of Sucre, given to the British post office with black "Cobija/C/SP 21 74" c.d.s., sent due by British packet with Callao and London transits on the reverse, Calais entry plus several French transits, backstamped Masseube, a rather heavy letter being charged "30" decimes due and with "GB/1F90c" British accounting handstamp, cover has considerable fold separation that has been hinged reinforced, portion of top flap missing with small pieces missing from the front which have all been mended for appearance sake by adding a piece at top, but not affecting the stamp or markings; otherwise fine; an incredibly rare cover, not only being a combination between the Bolivian post office and the British Agency, but this is one of only two covers known with the Eleven Star Fifty Cent value. 2157 c 1869 Eleven Star postal history collection, a neatly mounted study of the various usages of this issue consisting of 31 attractive covers, emphasis is put on the various domestic and foreign rates to neighboring South American countries, it start1869 Eleven Star postal history collection, a neatly mounted study of the various usages of this issue consisting of 31 attractive covers, emphasis is put on the various domestic and foreign rates to neighboring South American countries, it starts with two single frankings of the 5c Green for the letter rate within the same department, and includes a very rare 10c bisect cover for a cover that apparently was posted within the the Litoral Department, the normal usage time of most covers of this issue is the early 1870's having been issued in November of 1869, but also includes a letter dated and postmarked December 17, 1869 with pair of 5c Green, this is the earliest cover the collector has seen of any Eleven Star issue, the collection includes numerous domestic covers paying various rates with combinations of the 5c and 10c values, also includes some nice foreign usages including two 10c frankings (one with two 5c, other with 10c single) on covers to Valparaiso being a special 10c rate for the Bolivian Litoral district to Chile, also eight covers paying the 20c rate to Argentina or Peru including two with blocks of four of the 5c Green, covers are collected for their different town usages for the various rates, overall clean and attractive with many nice covers of this popular 19th century issue, fine-very fine. 2160 c 1878 Book of Law postal history collection of 26 covers featuring a nice range of usages for this first issue produced in the U.P.U. period, includes a number of bisect covers of the 10c and 20c values, this study starts with a very scarce 5c single franking, plus various domestic rates and combination frankings, eleven covers have one or more 10c bisects including eight with a single bisect in combination with a whole 10c value making the 15c rate to such countries as Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, these were often handled in various ways with some marked postage due, one marked damaged, etc., we also noted an unusual cover from Sucre to Munich with 10c Orange in mixed franking with 1c Eleven Star rouletted paying the entire postage (an unusual rate) with violet Legation of Chile in Bolivia cachet, some higher value frankings include two 20c covers, one on postal envelope with other adhesives to Italy, four 20c bisect covers, two domestic and two with additional 5c value to Argentina and Chile, finally a rare high value franking to Paris with a pair of the 50c Dull carmine and a 20c single (both values have tears but attractive), condition is generally clean and fine-very fine or better except as noted; a fascinating lot for the postal history student.
