2082 ogbl 3 3, 1867 5c Violet, the amazing unique complete mint sheet of 72, exceptionally well preserved for this large format sheet with large margins all around, possessing an attractive grayish lilac shade and clean impression, original hand applied gum#3, 1867 5c Violet, the amazing unique complete mint sheet of 72, exceptionally well preserved for this large format sheet with large margins all around, possessing an attractive grayish lilac shade and clean impression, original hand applied gum that has a few thicker spots and some gum skips that are typical of the gumming process used on these issues, many stamps in the center portion are n.h., folded once horizontally and three times vertically dividing the sheet into eight blocks of nine and for the most part being between the rows not encroaching on the designs, one corner stamp with a light diagonal crease, very fine for this first issue of Bolivia.The Five Cent Condor plate had been revised and worked on numerous times during the production of this value in green. After the fourth re-engraving and three different retouches to that re-engraving it was decided by a decree of November 29, 1867 to print this value in a new color of violet. The issuance was small, all being in the same final state of the plate. This small production in the various violet shades is the reason that this value is so scarce whether mint, postally used, fiscally used or very rarely on cover.The sheet offered here has long been known as having been in the famous Ferrary collection. This is the only sheet known with none other remaining intact making this one of the world-class rarities of the popular Condor issue. This sheet is certainly absolutely necessary for any exhibition collection of this issue. It has not been on the market for many years and may not appear again for many more; ex-Ferrary. 2087 ng 4 4,1867 10c Brown, the striking unique complete unused sheet of 78, a beautiful sheet for any of the Condor issues, let alone the scarce 10c value, deep rich color and heavy impression for the most part though there is slight lightening of a few#4,1867 10c Brown, the striking unique complete unused sheet of 78, a beautiful sheet for any of the Condor issues, let alone the scarce 10c value, deep rich color and heavy impression for the most part though there is slight lightening of a few edge stamps from the way the ink was applied to the plate, clean bright paper, the freshness of which may be due to the gum having been removed from it very early on, clear to large margins all around, several light vertical folds endemic to these large sheets, three affect the stamps of three vertical rows but not detracting from the appearance of this lovely sheet, otherwise very fine.This Ten Cent Condor sheet, like its 5c Violet counterpart, has long been a part of Bolivian philatelic history, also being in the Ferrary collection. The reason that this value is so scarce and so seldom found on cover is that it was not issued until December 1867 when the color change of the 5c value was instituted. Being used for a very short time, it similarly exists in only one state of the plate, had a relatively low issuance and is scarce mint or in all of its usages. The impressive sheet offered here is the only recorded sheet yet remaining intact. It is highly desirable both for its rarity and exceptionally attractive appearance. Furthermore this great rarity is as necessary as the Five Cent Violet sheet for an award-winning collection making it an absolute must for the ultimate Bolivian specialist; ex-Farrary. 2096 Rbl #3R/8R, 5c -100c Condor reprint complete sheets, includes the 5c in a brownish purple sheet of 72 which was intended to be a reprint of the 5c Violet, 10c Brown in sheet of 78, plus 50c Blue and 100c Green each in a sheets of 30, these four values are the only reprints that full sheets are yet known to remain intact, the 100c Blue is only known in reconstruction and the 5c green is rare and is not even known in a reconstruction, but also included here is a reconstruction of the scarcer 50c Orange made up of an irregular block of 24 in a pale yellow and an irregular block of seventeen in a much darker orange showing two distinctively different shades of this value, all with the hand brushed o.g. that was applied to these sheets, 5c sheet has a vertical fold in the center that slightly affects several impressions, very fine and rare in full sheets. 2097 ogngO 1867 5c-100c Condor comprehensive and highly specialized collection, a beautifully written up collection on exhibition pages documenting the mint issues in singles, blocks and other multiples, postally used examples where the value was so used an1867 5c-100c Condor comprehensive and highly specialized collection, a beautifully written up collection on exhibition pages documenting the mint issues in singles, blocks and other multiples, postally used examples where the value was so used and fiscal usages, plus reprints, forgeries and bogus cancels and covers, all carefully described and identified with the several hundred original stamps and numerous reprints all plated by position number, housed in three deluxe custom albums, the first page is a mint set of all the different stamps including the ten major stages of the printing plate which is complete except for the earliest impression of the original plate which is pen cancelled, the first volume is dedicated to the 5c Green in its numerous states of the plate and shades with a nice range of the scarce yellow green shades, including a double impression, there are singles and multiples with various cancels including a fiscally used block of 24 from the second state of the plate of 60, positions 4-9/40-45, numerous multiples of the later states of the plates are present up to a block of 42 of the fifth state of the original plate, includes a nice selection of the different postal cancels that are found on the 5c up to blocks of six as well as blocks with some attractive fiscal handstamp cancels, each value, including the 5c Greens has a selection of forgeries that range from crude to dangerous, the 10c Brown is represented by numerous unused and used examples of this scarce stamp, plus reprints in blocks, the used include two small pieces with a bisect tied along with a single by a proper postal cancel, there are also two signed combination die proofs of the two positions that Sperati forged, plus a combination proof and seven of his forgeries including six in three pairs, the 50c orange shows the numerous colors of the originals and has a specialized study comparing the originals to the Eberhardt forgeries for all 30 positions, in addition to some nice genuine fiscal cancelled copies there are a number with bogus postal type cancels including three bogus covers, the 5c Violet section is especially nice with a number of mint or unused multiples in various colors including four mint blocks of four, plus a wonderful range of postally used up to strips of three and fiscally used up to a block of twelve, the other 50c and 100c values are also well represented including five different shades of the rare unused 50c Blue, condition overall is attractive and well above the average that one would expect for this classic imperforate issue with the vast majority being fine-very fine or better for these; our description has only touched on the highlights of this most important collection of the Bolivian Condors which we have left largely intact; this represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire such a comprehensive collection as it is doubtful that there has been another to equal it; accompanied by ten certificates of authenticity.
