1971 usage of green/green apparently undenominated aerogramme featuring a jetliner inscribed 'ARIANA' with 'POSTES AFGANES' at the base, overprinted with the more correct 'POSTES AFGHANES' & '14 AFS' (value) at right & in Afghani at left, the values crudely scored-out & equally crude '8 Afs...' surcharge h/s at the top, to New Jersey with lengthy social letter, minor 'sticky tape' stains. Surely the aerogramme most difficult to describe! [Aryana Airlines was formed in 1955. It is unclear when the name was changed to Ariana but it was before the issue of theis aerogramme. Snce the 1980s it has been known as Ariana Afghan Airlines]
The letter provides a travel itinerary, commencing with a bus from Kabul to New Delhi, then by air to Kathmandu, "...Nepal is getting uptight about extending visas due to...something in the beginning of the year...[The Afghans are] really fine people...How do you explain an electronic computer to somebody who lives in a mud house...The closest we could come was the abacus that the pharmacist used..." Useful thing, an abacus. Then, "...it takes 45 minutes to cash a travellers check because everything is done by hand..."
The reference to a ruckus in Nepal was to the King & Queen being murdered by their son who also shot himself but survived for three days during which time he was anointed as king!! Outstanding social history!

AUSTRALIAN: c.1930 philatelic cover with 1½d Canberra tied by superb strike of the undated 'BANZ/1930 [penguin] -31/ANTARCTIC RESEARCH EXP' cachet, plus almost as fine a strike in violet across the flap. Superb!
AUSTRALIAN: 1967 Pictorials tied to three Wesley covers by 'WILKES/9FEB1967/...' pictorial cds, each with blue/white 'WILKES/Aust Antarctic Terr' R label; plus 1969 5c tied to unaddressed Wesley cover by the same cds.
(Qty 4 covers)
AUSTRALIAN: 1987 Antarctic Scenes (Third Issue) stampsize colour photographic essays of the five designs all denominated with the issued values endorsed below "2c 10c 20c 36c 60c", affixed to thin greenish card (230x170mm), a couple of tiny blemishes.
PICTURE POSTCARDS: Keen's Mustard 'Farthest South' card (inscibed 'New South Wales' on back) showing Antarctic explorer holding box of mustard and advertising 'banner' flag, used 1909 with NSW 1d Arms tied 'BURWOOD' cds, minor blemishes.
PICTURE POSTCARDS: 1906 New Zealand 'Canterbury Times' series with blue back 'Gun Cotton Explosion', very fine used 'TAIHARE' to Hawera with superb 'STRATFORD' transit cds.
PICTURE POSTCARDS: British chromolitho advertising card for Cerebos Salt with four vignettes including 'ANTARCTIC OCEAN' with a ship stuck in ice and a husky team with sled in the foreground, used under cover. Superb!
Nine Schaubek albums covering the period 1850 to 2016. Thin in the early and later periods but still plenty of value, including small ranges of Austrian Post Offices in Turkey, Crete, Military Post, Serbia & Bosnia-Herzegovina; four albums with large array of WIPA 1981 promotional and event covers; also two small suitcases with covers and pieces - some Australia - cut from mail ready for soaking.
